Dear
All,
Before proceeding to the root of my message, please let me quote two
independent reviews of GMABooster. This is basically for the people who have no
ability to test an existing version - GMABooster for GMA 950.
TweakTown
has reviewed the GMABooster on 05/05/2009 (read
full review):
"...the GMABooster application did
actually work. It simply overclocked the GPU from its default 166MHz to 400MHz.
At 400MHz, the performance of the GPU on 3DMark06 was about 86% higher than
before we ran the application..."
PCGamer magazine, August 2009 issue
(on sale 06/23/2009):
"...of all the tips on this page, using the simple,
safe and effective overclocking utility GMABooster (free, www.gmabooster.com) is
the one that can actually translate into honest-to-Ceiling-Cat framerate
increases if you're using a compatible chipset..."
The root of my
message: GMA 950 is not the only mobile/integrated solution by Intel® which
could be boosted in a similar way. According to an official datasheets, other
(existing and even upcoming) mobile chipsets by Intel® shall use the similar
clock control mechanism. That means, GMABooster for GMA 500, GMA X3100, GMA
X4500 is a feasible thing.
I would like to reach the people who really
want the GMABooster for GMA 500, GMA X3100, GMA X4500 to come true. I would like
to let all of You know: to be able to successfully develop a new GMABooster, it's first required to purchase a suitable equipment. An issue is, I live in an Eastern-European country
where customs is highly specific, not allowing me to buy something cheap on
eBay, to receive a laptop by mail, etc., etc. However, by donating some funds You can
help me to buy the necessary hardware locally, which would make me able to
produce the GMABooster for Your chipset as soon as possible. Just for Your
information: the existing GMABooster (for GMA 950) would never arrived if I
haven't had a real GMA 950 powered notebook on my desk. Intel®'s official paper
(datasheet) for each chipset contains absolutely not suffucient data to be able
to reprogram chipset clock control mechanism without solving a kind of "equation
with many unknown arguments", that is why I am not able to "just do it". I have
already tried to work with remote testers, and the experience is, unfortunately,
not positive. To succeed, I have to be able to run my HW probes 100 times a day
if needed, following the "gold mine" of an undocumented instructions I had
discovered on the road to successful reprogramming of GMA 950. No remote tester
could handle this... From another hand, having the relevant notebook on my desk,
I would estimate to succeed within a few weeks, putting the maximum effort into
development and spending days and nights tet-a-tet with the test notebook, as I
already did last winter, producing the GMABooster for GMA 950.
I will be pleased to indicate the name or URL of everyone, who would really contribute, in the GMABooster About Box and on this web site. Dear All,
I would really like You to feel Yourselfes (and to actually become) the
participants of this unique project, not the static spectators... I do believe
that GMABooster may finally become the industry-standard perfomance boost
solution for Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator series - the solution which would
bring You way higher perfomance than it might be expected from a computer with
integrated graphics, doesn't matter whether an UMPC, home media center or
notebook it is!
Please visit the donate page for more
information. Thank You in advance!

Sincerely
Yours,
Vladimir Plenskiy
